Cambrian Explosion, small painting 12

Cambrian Explosion, small painting 12, acrylic on 8"x10" canvas board, March 2012

Palette knife mixing and smearing, a wash, drips, brush marks… ah, the ‘technical’ details are boring!  Cambrian Explosion — a real name that fits!  Enjoy!

  1. Out of curiosity, I looked up the definition of Cambrian. You’re right. You picked the perfect title for this painting. There is such depth in this painting, and a lot of wonderful textures. It’s got so much going for it. It’s one of your best yet! Well done, Zorgor!

    • Thanks! Really?? Thanks!! 😀

I think there is more for me to explore in this direction…

      • Yes really! It’s excellent! One of my favorite parts is the spray if rich green in the lower center of the painting. Very nice work! By the way, I read in a comment that you don’t have any of your work hanging in your home. Why not? You should cherish your work and display it proudly! 🙂

        • Well thank you very much. 🙂 Gee… I wish I could say that green smear was more… intentional. 🙂 Glad you like it! Yeah, never really got around to hanging any of it up… I have, really a lot of it, hanging in my cube at work… 6 of them I think. I guess I figure that’s where I’ll see it more.

  2. Love this! Really I do! i don’t know what it is….the brilliant colors that contrast and compliment at the same time. Awesome job.

  3. So as I was staring at this trying to figure out why you both like it so much, my daughter tried again to sneak up on me. She does that — hasn’t pulled it off yet! 🙂 So I asked her how you catch a unique rabbit. She said, “paint a unique rabbit on a canvas then catch it on the canvas?” which I thought was a pretty good answer! Then she looked at this and asked me where the unique rabbit was. I said, I don’t know, where is it? And right away she found one! If you look at the three red-orange-yellow smears in a triangle on the left, the one on the right “corner” is the unique rabbit! The blue dot on its left is the eye. It even has ears, feet, and a tail! Wow!

I like! You must bring it in for a thorough Dani-interpretation.

I'd love to hear your thoughts and interpretations! Your comments and likes are what keep the paintings and posts coming. :)
