A year of painting and blogging!

Today I have been writing this blog for one year.  🙂  I started this to blog my paintings, suspecting that getting a little feedback on them would motivate me to keep me painting.  It worked!!  Moreover, I took Jim’s advice and decided to stick to a schedule of posting twice a week.  Though I did shift my original Tuesday/Friday schedule to Wednesday/Saturday, I still cannot believe I have actually posted twice a week — every week — for a full year.  Of course some posts have been… lackluster, but then I’ve also been surprised by which have been more popular.

So on this, the conclusion of year one, I want to sincerely thank all of you.  Thank you.  Thank you for visiting!  It’s not flattery — it’s straight truth when I tell you that it’s your comments and likes that keep the posts and paintings coming.  🙂

I want to especially thank Jenna, Marina, Dani, Joseph, and QueridaJ for all the artistic support and encouragement!  Thank you so much!  🙂

Here is a slideshow of the OMIGOD 61 paintings (mostly) I’ve completed this past year:

  1. Happy blogging anniversary, Charlie!
What a great idea this slideshow. An opportunity to re-enjoy your wonderful work!
[thinking out loud: maybe I should follow your example and do the same, I believe October ’11 was my debut here too!]
May we all enjoy your yearly slideshows many many years to come!
    🙂

  2. Congratulations on completing 1 year of blogging :)! Wonderful to see a slideshow! I have missed so many,so it was nice to see them all now. Hope to see more of you next year.

  3. I have been impressed about your work this past year. I especially liked the paintings you would flip over and press. Congrats.

  4. Jim

Happy blogiversary! And I’m glad my bit of advice helped. It is strange which posts end up popular!

  5. Congratulations on your blog’s anniversary, Zorgor! I always love coming to visit to see what’s new around here, and to see all the new techniques you’re always applying to your paintings. I enjoyed the slide show – you’ve accomplished a lot in the past year! I hope we’ll see many more paintings in the future! Thanks for the nice shoutout too. 🙂

    • Thank you so much for your kind encouragement over the past year! Artists like us are “supposed” to be at odds right? 🙂 The realist vs. the abstract painter. But that old tired debate is so 20th century! 🙂 Sometimes I think I might get bored if I run out of new techniques to try. Thank you, and I’ll keep painting!

  6. Happy blogging anniversary!!!!! =) for more art and blogging!!!!!

  7. Happy Blogging Anniversary!! =) For an amateur skeptic your blog has been such a pleasant and captivating eye-opener, truly I enjoy seeing the progress of your paintings and reading your posts…but what I like the most is the openness with which you encourage interpretation and have fun with it =) Hoping you’ll share more of your creative ventures with us in the coming year =)

    • the cherry on the sundae is the slideshow…you should be so proud of yourself and your accomplishments =)

    • Woah! Are there… professional skeptics?? How do I get that job?! 🙂 I can be cynical all day! 😀 Oh wait, no I guess I really can’t. Oh well.

I’m glad you’ve liked the paintings and posts! 🙂 Openness… yes, if I ever get around to writing an artist’s manifesto that’s going to be one of the points. I tend to find much art criticism arbitrary and unfounded, and so, not really valid. I think the only question that is always valid about art is, “Do you like it?” Followed by, “Why or why not?” So, yes, especially when I’m doing non-representational abstract — art that isn’t supposed to look like anything really — why wouldn’t it be wide open to interpretation? I’m not even saying myself that it’s “this” and not “that”… And yes, why then should it not be fun?? 🙂

Thank you so much, and yes I will keep painting and blogging!
